Surprise Visitor – Christopher Tay

November 24, 2007 · Posted in TJC Related · 4 Comments

Site e-MotionThe web is not a secure place; yes, I mean it. A friend of mine, Christopher Tay, managed to trace my blog site, not exactly sure how he did it, but I believe he made a couple of searches from his favourite search engine, Google – to find his way here.

As far as I know, I have kept this blog on an extremely low profile, apart from the search engine, which I allowed spiders to crawl my site; I did not really mention to anybody about it.

Shared ATMs Charged Me 30 Cents

November 21, 2007 · Posted in Rant Corner · 4 Comments

ATM

What is 30 cents (about 10 pence) to different people? Well, it’s a piece of cake! However, I still dislike the idea of having shared ATM (those that dispenses cash) charging me something each time I withdraw a cash. The fact that the bank mentioned it’s a shared services; it should rightfully be free!

Anyway, I learnt my lesson after checking through my account statement today, just to realise that I was charged 30 cents all the time each transaction took place at a shared ATM, which does not belong to my bank.

Initially, my thought was that it could be a bank’s error, but upon checking the website, I realised it’s the following:

  • Free for 1st 2 transactions on Shared ATM
  • 30 cents per transaction thereafter on Shared ATM

Knowing this fact is enough! The next time if I would go ahead and withdraw money, I would head off directly to my bank’s ATM instead.

Furthermore, it is absolutely Preposterous for the ATM (or rather, the Bank) not to warn users that they will be charged a fee during the process of any transaction, despite it was mentioned in the website.

Fine print…. *sigh*

Anyway, I am extremely disappointed and I am utterly disgusted!

Flu and Fever – Visit to Hwang and Liang Clinic

November 21, 2007 · Posted in Rant Corner · 2 Comments

MedicineIt was horrible last night! I fell feverish, and it was not hard to identify that I was sick. Knowing my situation pretty well, there is no way I can be productive at work today and hence I took a day off for sick leave.

I drank several glasses of mild warm water during the night, hopefully to replenish the loss of fluid due to cough and influenza. I felt slightly better in the morning, but it’s still not 100% recovered. I paid a visit to a nearby clinic to see a General Practitioner. The wait was an awful 2 hours; but I guess it was worthwhile the wait.

Web Server Data is Saved

November 19, 2007 · Posted in Social Networking · 1 Comment

Pictures of ServersI have to give credit to Al who managed to rescue the our hostmatrix server from scrutiny. It is not exactly sure how things could have happened, but apparently, the sites are up and running again (after about 24 hours). Perhaps, it is time to take some extra precautionary measures, to ensure these do not happen again. It will be unwise to lose data because of down time or hackers’ attempt.

Great work, Al. I’m sorry to hear about the stolen wallet. Hope you have a great stay in Brazil.

HostMatrix Server Fails Me Again

November 18, 2007 · Posted in Social Networking · 2 Comments

HostMatrix LogoAs a loyal member of HostMatrix, a free web-hosting service, I am disappointed to know today that the server has crashed again, and this time found out that my data is completely gone.

I have no clue whatsoever of why I cannot log in, but as far as I know my data is lost; despite doing regular backups. The only upset is that I had just revamped several sites on the same server, and then this morning, my login credential is not there anymore. How can I not be mad? This is atrocious!

It’s not the loss of revenue that I am complaining at the moment, but rather the waste of effort and time spent on site development. Al, please do something about it…

I found this wallpaper by accident but I am proud to have this used as my Windows XP wallpaper. The style is so cool and it brings me fresh look as compared to the previous plain coloured wallpaper.

If you are reading this article, perhaps you may want to check this wallpaper out. It is just so-damn cool.

SAP Family Day 2007 at Fort Canning Park

November 17, 2007 · Posted in Rant Corner · Comments Off on SAP Family Day 2007 at Fort Canning Park

Fort Canning

Today, Saturday November 17, 2007 is SAP Family Day for Singapore, but from the way that I see, it is raining cats and dogs right now – and I am highly doubtful that the turnout will be somewhat spectacular.

On the other hands, those people who attend the event might be in for some good surprises, as it means each individual will stand a higher chance to win the lucky draw! The event starts at 3pm in the afternoon at Fort Canning Park, and runs through the evening till 9pm at night.

So, come to think of it, surely it sounds rather tempting to join in the party that is without many crowd. Furthermore, a higher probability of winning a lucky draw prize!
