It has been several years since I had a good outing session with my ex-schoolmates from Junior College (Temasek JC) days. We arranged to meet up at HK Cafe, along East Coast Road, Singapore at half past 7 in the evening on Thursday, December 27, 2007 (the location is shown on the thumbnail map).
Thanks to SH, who initiated the meeting. This is probably a good time to meet up because of several reasons.
- I am back from Europe.
- KT is also back from Australia.
- A long time since we last get together.
- To catch up with Edwin and XY’s Mahjong trade.
- To celebrate post-Christmas season, but not to forget there are 12 days of Christmas.
- To have a great laugh at Bear who’s suffering from cold and hunger in the French regime… (sounds like I’ll be pounced and hammered anytime soon)
- and the list goes on…
The entire session was rather relaxing and full of laughters. It was an exact reminisce of the times during our college days. However, I do feel that the topic is slightly different, with the ladies concentrating more on slimming, gym workouts and yoga. The guys, as usual, on the musical stuffs. In addition, there are a lot of gossiping going on the table… hmm, perhaps I shall keep it a secret here.
We hung out quite late, until thirty to midnight. I shared a cab with KT home, since we stayed quite close to each other.
Disclaimer: Nicknames have been used instead of real name so as to protect the privacy of the people…. but then, who the hell cares anyway! Not as if Bill Gates is meeting us at HK Cafe.
Basically, there is nothing bullish about it, because the traffic is miserable; after all, it is meant to be a personal blog site and nothing fanciful. So, I don’t see the point or any reason to receive influx of extreme traffic.

Just an hour ago, I read the BBC Sports News section only to find out that Manchester United has claimed top spot in the Premiership table, following the match yesterday, December 26, 2007 on Boxing Day.
Of the so-called Top 4; that is, Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea, only Liverpool and Manchester United registered wins over their opponents with Arsenal and Chelsea drawn against their rivals.
In the past, the word “fat” never crossed my mind and it is almost inevitable that I can self-proclaimed that I will never get fat, because it’s in my gene. All my relatives, including uncles, my grandfather and dad do not have that sort of an issue.
Recently, I just realised that I have been putting on weights. Hmm, or it’s not weight that I am putting on, it’s the waistline! Could it be the fact that I have been sitting in office for too long? Or was it because of the climate in Singapore that caters to easy expansion of body mass? Or was it the food delicacy that floods the local streets and shopping malls that are simply irresistable? Well, as much as I can come up with loads of reasons and perhaps, excuses, I think there is just one main answer…
Not sure if it’s me, or the place that I am in now. This year’s Christmas has been rather quiet and almost non-existence for me. Over the last 6 to 7 years been in Europe, Christmas is an almost joyous and exciting period of the year.
After returning to Singapore, I just find the lack of taste in Christmas; no white Christmas, no coldness in winter, no fireplace, no carolling in shopping malls. It is just like another normal day here, except it’s a public holiday.
Time flies! Since the last post on Christmas, we are now on Christmas’ eve! Despite not a holiday yet, but I am working from home.
This is a good time for me to catch up with some programming stuffs that I need to work on the ASP.NET applications to drive the database. So, it will be thorough home-working day for me.
… after some time… I admit about doing some work on Christmas’ eve but eventually I did not really get much things done. I did replied some emails and went through a couple of source codes, but nothing major is being worked on. Sad to say, it wasn’t quite productive as I wanted to be, but I managed to catch some few hours of good chats with a close friend of mine over coffee.
Tomorrow, or rather today (since it’s past 12 midnight) is considered to be a special day in the Chinese (Lunar) calendar, known as Dong Zhi. It is a festive season for family members to gather together.
Well, I am not very familiar with the day but we do get to eat Tang Yuan on this very day. So, I’ll be looking forward for a bowl later.
Updates: Just had my bowl of Tang Yuan. It tastes great, can’t wait to go for another bowl later on…
