Less of Myself

Star of David

It is not even 2008 as according to the Lunar calendar yet, but I am already beginning to feel the curse befell on horses for me. I received a letter from the National Service demanding a recall back for a 2-week enclosure. I felt less appreciated at workplace, despite making a couple of nice people. I received infractions since start of 2008 in DigitalPoint Forums. Personal life is like a roller-coaster. Thesis is hanging on the rock. Moreover, I felt a special friend has left me.

I’m not a complete superstitious person, but I do believe when there are times of highs and times of lows. I have been enjoying a couple of highs for the last couple of years. Perhaps, that time of low is now. However, I am not going to sit down and moan about it; hence, it is time for personal planning – Time Management.

Therefore, for a start, this might be the last post for the next many days, weeks or even months to come…. Until then, I wish all you readers, bots and spiders – Good Luck! Who knows, I might have a chance to publish one more post for “Chinese New Year“.

Off To Work On A Sunday

January 27, 2008 · Posted in Rant Corner · Comment

Clipart of a CalendarIn about a short while, I’ll be off to “work” on a Sunday. Well, I cannot say for sure it’s exactly a work, but it is definitely work-related. Won’t reveal too much information here, as I won’t want to be sued by the company for leaking private information.

Anyway, I’ll still enjoy the day with gladness and happiness. It’s just another day passing by…

It is likely to be a very grand event for SAP, and it will launch its opening ceremony on Sunday January 27, 2008 and runs until Tuesday, January 29, 2008. One of the door gift is a laptop bag!

Thesis Nightmare With 3 Months To Go

January 25, 2008 · Posted in Thesis · 1 Comment

ThesisWith less than 3 months to go, I am starting to panick as the deadline approaches for thesis re-submission. As mentioned previously, I have finished my viva and all that I needed to do is to ensure that the thesis submission is in quality condition.

There are still chunks here and there to sort out, but hopefully it won’t take too long. My professor is giving me quite a good helping hand; nonetheless, it is still me that has to do the work.

Fingers crossed, maybe I have to consider applying for annual leave to concentrate on thesis-writing. So, I’ll probably be seen less on the Internet, at least for the next couple of weeks, until the thesis is submitted.

Real-Time Users Online Tracking

Real-Time Users Online

StumbleUpon is a really interesting application (or tool, if you would like to call it). Quite some time ago, I spoke about StumbleUpon driving some visitors to my sites. I thought that might just be somewhat a “mediterranean rain“; but I was surprised to see it coming back a few weeks later.

Interesting to catch some real-time statistics, I installed WP-UserOnline plugin on my WordPress blog, so that it is able to provide an approximation to the number of visitors that are currently browsing my site. In addition, bots and spiders are also traceable!

Trying Out Mozilla Portable

January 23, 2008 · Posted in Applications · 1 Comment

Firefox PortableWorking on a several different laptops (or computer systems) can be quite troublesome, especially if you are used to Mozilla Firefox but realised that the software is not available on that particular system.

PortableApps came up with such an ingenuous idea to create portable applications; that is, Mozilla Firefox can be fired up from a USB thumb drive, without having to install it onto your computer system. Furthermore, it leaves no trace of data on the computer that you are working on.

I tried the Mozilla Firefox 3 Portable Edition 3 Beta 2 today and I have to admit it is really cool. I have the application installed onto my SD Card. So far, it is working pretty well. The only exception is, I am unable to access my email on Hotmail. Perhaps, it might just be due to Microsoft being skeptical with non-Internet Explorer browsers.

Well, just as I speak, I am writing this post from my Portable Firefox. It’s just too good to be true. In addition, I installed Portable GIMP as well.

Cloverfield – Monster in New York

January 23, 2008 · Posted in Films · Comment

CloverfieldA very interesting epic of this film, unlike the usual movies. The film is played as though you are watching directly from an amateur person making his own film.

The first 15 minutes of the show is kind of boring; however, as soon as the audience are beginning to wonder if they have paid a good price for the show, the excitement commenced. It started with a shake on city, just like an earthquake.
