During the Singapore’s National Day Rally (broadcasted live island-wide), the Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong announced that the Defense Ministry will award Singapore citizens who have served National Service, through the National Service Recognition Award, or NSRA in short.
The NSRA is a monetary award (valued between $9,000 and $10,500) for each NSman by the time he completes his operationally ready national service (ORNS), or to be precise, reservist training cycle. It will be disbursed in three milestones, at $3000 each. For commanders (ranked 3rd Sergeant and above, an additional $500 will be given).
Here is breakdown of the 3 milestones:
- 1st tranche: upon completion of the 20th month of full-time national service.
- 2nd tranche: after the completion of 3 high-key in-camp training or 5 in-camp trainings, whichever is earlier.
- 3rd tranche: upon completion of the full ORNS training cycle.
Here’s the key note:
The 1st award is paid into the post-secondary education account (PSEA) to meet the NSman’s aspiration towards his studies. The 2nd and 3rd payment will be deposited into his CPF Ordinary, MediSave and Special accounts, in line with prevailing CPF contribution rates.
So, as you can see… you don’t get the use the money directly. Nonetheless, you won’t know when these will come in handy.
About one week ago, I bought a new Desktop from Giant, priced at $739. Here are the technical specifications:
- Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
- Intel Pentium Processor E5500
- Intel GMA X4500 Graphics
- DVD Super Multi-drive
- 320GB Hard Drive
- 2GB DDR3 Memory
- Multi-in-One Media Card Reader
So, the specification does not seem somewhat spectacular. But, why is it a good buy?
It is amazing how Hollywood stars managed to stay in their extravagant look. However, does anyone know how they actually look when without their make-ups?
Want to see Britney without her mascara? Or Cameron Diaz without her lipsticks.
Well, to see the truth underneath those cosmetic cover-up, check out below.
Ladies, If this doesn’t make your day, nothing can!
I vote for Goldie Hawn’s make-up artist. WOW! No wonder it takes a whole team of pros to make these women look half as good as you do on a normal day. Imagine what their teams could do with the raw material YOU present!!!! AWESOME.
In two days’ time, it will be National Day for Singapore. This year will be 45 years since Singapore’s independence.
Taking this chance to wish the nation…
Happy 45th Birthday, Singapore!
Under Firefox browser, after I entered my credentials to log in, it does not goes into the Communicator page; instead, the same home page is reloaded.
When I tried this over at Internet Explorer 7.0. Surprisingly, it works. Looks like Microsoft is about to retake back its reign as the king of the browser war.
Update: Today (August 4th), it seems that Mozilla is able to work its magic to access SingNet.
Want to know when your PC (personal computer) is infected by a virus? It is simple, if the above copying dialog box looks something like that (refer to the image above).

A friend of mine sent me an email about Attorney’s jokes. It was pretty hilarious when I read them.
These are from a book called ‘Disorder in the American Courts’ and are things people actually said in court, word for word, taken down and now published by court reporters that had the torment of staying calm while these exchanges were actually taking place.
