Yesterday, I was looking checking at the outcome of the draw from the Champion League Group phase; who would be put together in the same group. In summary, the result is provided below.
Group A: Bayern Munich, Villarreal, Manchester City, Napoli
Group B: Inter Milan, CSKA Moscow, Lille, Trabzonspor
Group C: Manchester United, Benfica, Basel, Otelul Galati
Group D: Real Madrid, Lyon, Ajax, Dinamo Zagreb
Group E: Chelsea, Valencia, Bayer Leverkusen,Genk
Group F: Arsenal, Marseille, Olympiakos, Borussia Dortmund
Group G: FC Porto, Shakhtar Donetsk, Zenit, Apoel FC
Group H: Barcelona, AC Milan, BATE Borisov, Viktoria Plzen
Among the 4 English football clubs, it seems that Manchester City has the toughest draw in Group A. However, given the quality and the experience of the team, punters are predicting that all 4 teams should be able to negotiate through the group phase.
Let’s see how it goes in the next couple of months.
Happy 46th Birthday Singapore!!
Yes, today is August 9th, 2011 – Singapore’s 46 years of independence. I cannot remember the days when I would actually go to the National Stadium a few weeks before the actual National Day Parade (NDP) to get a sneak preview of the performance. Now, I’m just getting lazier, but I never fail to show the enthusiasm to be part of the country-wide celebration.
Whilst the economy has been good for the past 2 decades, we should not take things for granted; if it is not for our forefathers and the strong political backbone of the country’s renowned politicians, coupled with state-of-the-art military defense force, Singapore would not be as strong as it is today. The ability to resist the impact of US debt-ridden fiscal commotion demonstrates its long-term planning the country has set 20 years ahead before today.
As Singapore celebrates its independence day, let’s all be mindful and grateful to every one who contributes to the country, in one way or another. Happy National Day, Singapore!
Just two days before Singapore’s National Day, celebrating 46 years of independence, the National Environment Agency (NEA) announced that it is going to be a heavy rain today island-wide in Singapore, according to the report from AsiaOne.
The report indicated that heavy thundery showers with gusty wind are expected over many areas of Singapore between 8:55am and 11:00am. The Public Utilities Board (PUB) also warned that flash floods may occur in low-lying areas in the event of heavy rain.
Already, I felt the heavy downpour this morning, when I went out to the market to have my breakfast. The area was very wet; but lucky for me, the time is already late morning, 10:00am. Should I be any earlier, I would have been thoroughly soaked through my skin! With National Day round the corner, I certainly hope that the day would be a nice, good one to avoid dampening everyone’s mood.
