Back to Using WordPress

After a few days of toying with Movable Type 4, I feel the application just got complicated as each day go by. Configuration is much more difficult than I expected. Hence, there is little choice for me; in terms of user-friendly and ease-of-configuration, WordPress is again my preferred choice of blogging software.
Movable Type has actually left me quite a good impression. One of their many excellent features lies in the beautiful wysiwyg visual editor interface. It is well-designed such that I have little trouble switching between code editing and rich text editing. Another feature that I like is their ability to include tags and keywords. I would be able to do that with WordPress, but only with the help of plugins. Movable Type has incorporated that feature within their application such that it makes life so much easier.
Unfortunately, I still don’t like the way MovableType catered their application for multi-blogs; for example, their root site cannot be placed on their sub-domain. Secondly, template-editing is a horrible procedure. I tried editing the template to a large extent and found out that it is so difficult, most often ended up having to copy the original file from the setup package. Finally, the main engine is based on CGI, though some of the sections are based on PHP. The use of CGI is fine, and I kinda like statics files rather than dynamics, since they placed lesser load on the server. However, the use of CGI is often the cause of unoptimised code, often resulting in poor server execution. Some of you may disagree with me, but I would see CGI being an old technology and it is not a preferred method to run web-based applications (especially what could be done with CGI is possible with PHP).
So, I left Movable Type, and returned to WordPress 2.0.11. This time, I re-designed the theme and installed a few plugins. No more playing around, and it is time for me to get back to work - there is a long way to do pertaining to my thesis *sigh*. Until then, leisure aside. I’ll probably leave it to the weekend to improve on my this blogging site - one that I feel is going to last much longer than expected.
