The mention of the name Cristiano Ronaldo is enough to send shivers and fears down the spine of any opponent. The Manchester United winger is currently the top goal scorer in the Premiership League, netting in 16 goals in the Barclay’s Premier League. Second on the list is Arsenal’s striker, Adebayor with 13 goals.
Note that, this young lad is not even a striker, but his goal-scoring rate is almost one goal per game, which ranks him amongst the world’s most devasting players. Having scored 22 goals this seasons for Manchester United; 5 comes from Europe and 1 from the FA Cup.
The next game for Manchester United is against the Royals (Readings) at the Madejski Stadium. Reading boss Steve Coppell has even said to the reporters that,
“…Ronaldo’s goalscoring record is phenomenal for a wide man. You can have nothing but respect for his talents. When I was player I went into the start of a season thinking a goal every six games would be a great return for a winger. But Ronaldo is scoring almost a goal a game – and he’s not even a striker…”
Furthermore,
“…He’s scoring goals and he’s also creating things for the team as well. He’s got an awful lot going on in his game and he’s a threat to any side in the world. You can only stand back and admire him because he’s broken the mould in terms of what wide players can do…”
It will be interesting to watch how much further Ronaldo can improve as the season progressed, but we will have to admit that the talent that he has is phenomenal!
