IBM ThinkPad X60s Lenovo for Work

IBM Lenovo X60sLast week, I traded in my HP notebook for an IBM ThinkPad X60s. Although I do not have a great impression for IBM, but I am starting to like it already. Featuring an extremely light weight system, with ultra-portable and long battery life, this laptop is definitely very useful for those people who often travel on the move.

CPUZ for Lenovo X60sFrom the left, you can see the CPU-Z configuration of the system. One amazing feature about the laptop is its high 2MB internal cache, followed by a dual-core processor.

Remarkably, this is a great performance improvement over the previous laptop as it commands a faster speed, as well as a quicker application access. With the dual core, applications can run almost twice as quickly. Not that it really runs twice the speed, but rather I can open more applications at the same time with almost little impact of the speed.

Below are the specifications for the ThinkPad X60s that I currently inherit.

  • Processor: Intel Centrino Duo 1.6GHz
  • Display: 12″ XGA 1024 x 768
  • Hard Disk Drive: (2.5″ size): 60GB 5400RPM
  • Optical Drive: CD-RW/DVD Combo (using the X6 Ultra Base to use the optical drive)
  • Video Graphics: Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950
  • Memory: 2GB PC2 — 5300/667MHz
  • Integrated Communications: Modem, Gigabit Ethernet
  • Wi-Fi: Intel PRO Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection 802.11 a/b/g
  • Battery: Standard 4-cell
  • Ports: 3 USB 2.0; IEEE 1394 (FireWire); expansion bus (for optional ThinkPad X6 UltraBase or ThinkPad X60 series extended life battery); monitor-out; AC adapter power jack; RJ-11; RJ-45; audio headphone/line-out, external microphone
  • Slots: 1 Type II PC Card slot with 34mm Express Card via adapter, 1 Secure Digital card slot
  • Dimensions (X60s): 10.5″ x 8.3″ x .83 – 1.11″ (width x depth x thickness)
  • Weight with 6-cell battery (without optical drive/with optical drive): X60s – starting at 2.69lbs
  • Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP Professional
  • Active Protection System / ThinkPad Shock Mounted Hard Drive: Yes

I am extremely delighted to take over this laptop from my predecessor, although I wished I don’t have to do that. Anyway, for the time being, this will stay at least with me for the next few weeks. What happens next, no one knows.
