ICQ Account Hacked

ICQ LogoThis is definitely not a very happy story to tell…

MY ICQ Account Was Hacked!!!

Yes, that’s right! I do not know which person in this world did it, but it happened within the last few days. As I was logging in to ICQ last night, I received a “password or username error” message. It can’t be! I tried a couple of times and still the system did not allow me to log in; only then I realised something bad has happened.

There is really little I can do about it. I accessed the main ICQ site and tried to reset my password, but I received nothing from my email. I believe the culprit must have changed my email address, together with the password. This is absolutely depressing.

Furthermore, I went ahead to file a report (or rather feedback) to ICQ, but I have not received any reply from them. I just wondered, are they concerned over their clients? Or they simply don’t really care as their pool of database are excessively huge.

The next thing that I found out who hacked my account (UIN: 2226005); it’s someone who used the nick “yurko2″ in place of my usual nick. That person has simply erased my profile completely and replaced with a different one.

As a matter of fact, I am quite devastated for a moment, not because of the contacts I have on my list, but rather this is very sentimental, as ICQ is one of the earliest Internet Messaging (IM) software that I used. This account has been with me for 10 over years and it is truly upset to have lost it. As you can see (above paragraph), my Unique ID has only 6 digits, as compared to accounts created today, which has 9 digits. I was one of the early birds.

Anyway, I wished whoever did that to my account FMD and KNNBCCB!

Well It had to happen some time. It looks like if you own 6-number account then nothing can save you - just wait a bit and your number will be stolen for sure. As I see now, most of that ICQ hackers are Russians including the one from this story.
And one more. ICQ team does nothing to recover hacked numbers. It seems that the only way to return the number is to pay another russian hacker who would steal it back to have it hacked again some time.

    Here’s similar story:
