Long Weekend Off-in-Lieu from Work

Singapore’s National Day on August 9 falls on a weekend last month and we, as employees, are entitled to take a replacement day off, which I took it today, briefly a month later. This week has relatively been busy, but less productive, as compared to other weeks because of some issues, e.g. attending ceremony and falling sick.

If I have to be honest to myself, I merely worked half of the entire productive week, but I presume that I can justify for that by making up for the loss of time by working outside office hours. The most important thing is, it doesn’t matter where or when I work, as long as I get the work done – ultimately, justify the “job that pays the rent“, or salary in short.

A long weekend is somewhat nice to fall back from the daily work, to refresh our mind and replenish or restore our energy level for another battling day at work. However, it is also important to find a fruitful aim of utilising this long weekend, such as trying to do something productive, yet non-work related. For example, a walk at the beach, getaway trip on a cruise, Genting trip for a casino, writing blogs and articles, or shopping (which I never fascinate about unless it has something to do with electronics).

At the end of the day, I hope to remain refresh when I get back to work next week!
