Microsoft’s Windows Live Mail is getting worse day by day. It originally started off as Hotmail, using the classic interface. Although there is not much feature, but it works like a charm.
As time passes, with the emergence of GMail and Yahoo! Mail, Microsoft was faced with competitors’ challenges. In order to meet the market’s demand for better feature and end-user’s comfort, Hotmail was later renamed to Window Live Mail. A brand new interface was introduced to the application, mainly utilising java scripts on its features. However, there was a fall-back option for those who prefer to use the classic version.
Just only recently, a few weeks ago, Microsoft completely migrated all accounts to utilise the advanced version of Windows Live Mail. Although I welcome the move, there was a lot of things that remained broken! It does not work well in a lot of browsers; including Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome. Not to be surprised, I had difficulties accessing Windows Live Mail on it’s own software - Microsoft Internet Explorer! What an irony.
I just wondered, what else can be used to access Windows Live Hotmail. I can only hope that the Microsoft developers do something that is really helpful to the public and not just restrict the application to its own circle. Everything has become globalised; same here in the IT industry as well. Better develop something that is open to all, rather than trying to monopolise on the market - because as time passes, there will be more people, who are experts in this profession to steal the pie. Things has to change…
