Thong Thai Traditional Thai Massage – Holiday Plaza, Johor Bahru, Malaysia
Do you like Thai massages? If so, then there is one you should not miss (if you are living in Singapore or southern part of West Malaysia). About 4 years ago when I first owned a car in Singapore, I began to explore destination outside the country, and travelling across the causeway to Johor Bahru became one of my hobbies and still is today (except less frequent). One day, I came upon a shopping mall, known as Holiday Plaza, and that was where I learnt about Thong Thai Traditional Massage.
My initial experience was unbelievable great. At that time, the massage parlour was located on the 3rd storey in Holiday Plaza. Nevertheless, it is unlikely you will miss it, as the place took up quite a considerable large floor space. In addition, the entrance is wide and facing the corridor, with banners to identify it clearly. I won’t explain in details, but as compared to some of the local (Singapore) Thai massage parlour, this is one level better in standard. All the masseuses are Thai, and there are also occasional male Thai masseurs for those who require additional strength. As customers, you can indicate your preference, subject to availability. The end result was a vibrant, refreshing me, walking out of the parlour feeling fully satisfied and on cloud nine.
Just in case anyone is wondering, Thong Thai Traditional Massage is a real, genuine, authentic massage parlour. Don’t expect any hanky-panky request to be entertained. Every Thai masseuses are fully trained and seems to have undergone the same “process enablement”. The procedure is exactly the same and standard, for every different masseur you chosed, the only difference is, they are different hands. There is a variety of services provided, such as
- Foot massage
- Traditional Thai massage
- Aromatherapy massage
- Head and Shoulder massage
Customers are allowed to choose how long they want the massage to be mainly 30, 60, 90, 120 minutes. The rate varies accordingly.
Four years later, their business grew, and they have opened an additional outlet just right outside Holiday Plaza shopping mall, to cater to customers who wished to be serviced at late hours. Holiday Plaza closed around 10pm (or slightly later), the new parlour outside the mall opens up till 1am in the morning! Don’t be surprise, they will be crowd streaming in, because it is strategically located next to a hotel – Mutiara Johor Bahru hotel.
Despite a longer operating hour, the rate does not change. In the event if customers feel tired of driving home after the massage, the hotel is just next to it. During the daytime, the shopping mall is often crowded; especially over weekends, there is no question about lack of potential customers.
Thong Thai Traditional Massage is a good recommendation, not simply because of its quality of service, provided by its masseuses, but also for its great value for money. It also provides a wide range of massage services, and it’s merely an hour drive from Singapore (Disclaimer: based on good traffic condition).

Furthermore, for every 10 massage services, you get 1 free! They gave out a card to help you keep track of how many times you visited their service. Since it is unlikely that we would really utilise the same service every time, and even so, the duration may vary; therefore, it is really simple, they simply take the average across all the services and check how much you are eligible for the free 11th visit. Should the service is more expensive, then you just need to top up the difference.
I just visited them this weekend and went for a full body 90-minute Traditional Thai massage, which cost me 80 Malaysian Ringgits. I am planning to visit them again later this month. After all, this can be a short getaway or a stay-cation, just across the causeway for Christmas. But, do book early!
