Using WordPress 2.0 Legacy Branch Over WordPress 2.3.3

WordPress Blue LogoThe release of WordPress 2.3.3 has not yet tempted me to upgrade to the latest version. As far as I am concerned, my current WordPress version of 2.0.11 has kept me happy and going very well.

WordPress 2.0.11 is considered to be the WordPress 2.0 Legacy Branch. The reason why I am still using this version is because WordPress has committed on the following:

…In keeping with the stable/testing release philosophy of Debian we have committed to maintaining our 2.0 branch with security and critical fixes until 2010. (Yes that’s 5 years after it was originally released in 2005.)…

Well, that’s 2 more years to go! I believe within this period of time, there will be a lot of new release of WordPress 2.x.x versions and hence, it can be quite troublesome applying security fixes, just because a new WordPress version has been released. This legacy release is definitely good enough to keep anyone going happy.

The latest version of the 2.0 branch is 2.0.11, and you can download it here:
